Because of the homeopathic processing utilized to prepare this medicine, questions of overdosage or toxicity associated with the ingestion of a bottle of this medicine are of an academic nature.
The following is printed for those who would like more information in this regard: The constituent of this mixture, which would be considered potentially most toxic, is Antimonium tartaricum 2X (Antimony potassium tartrate).
The other constituent is much less toxic. The LD50 of Antimonium tartaricum (s.c. in mice) is 55mg/kg. This is equivalent to 1.375g for a 25-kg (55-lb) child. An entire 1.7 Fl. Oz. (50 ml) bottle of PNEUMODORON #2 contains 46mg. A 25-kg (55-lb) child would have to consume approximately 30 x 1.7 Fl. Oz. (50 ml) bottles of PNEUMODORON #2 to ingest a lethal dose of Antimonium tartaricum. This equals about 1.7 quarts. An entire 1.7 Fl. Oz. (50 ml) bottle of PNEUMODORON #2 contains the equivalent of 32.5ml (approx. 6½ teaspoonfuls) of pure ethyl alcohol.
