N-acetyl cysteine is the N-acetyl derivative of the amino acid L-cysteine. It is commonly known as a detoxification agent and has been used as an antidote for acetaminophen poisoning since the 1970s. N-acetyl cysteine is a precursor of glutathione, which is a potent antioxidant. Glutathione cannot cross the cell membrane, but N-acetyl cysteine easily crosses the cell membrane where it is converted to cysteine and, subsequently, glutathione. ROS reduce intracellular and extracellular concentrations of glutathione, so N-acetyl cysteine is an effect way to rebuild this important antioxidant. Scientific study has also shown a reduction in sick leave time
when NAC has been administered to those suffering from chronic bronchitis.

Directions
Adult Dosage: Take 1 capsule daily, with meals providing protein.
