Product Details

Black spruce is the most common tree in Canada. The First Nations used black spruce to treat various ailments. The young shoots were used as a decoction for coughs and also as a sedative. A resin poultice could be applied to the torso for respiratory problems. The bark resin could be used as a chewing gum.

Black Spruce essential oil mainly contains monoterpenes and esters, especially bornyl acetate. The oil comes from the distillation of its needles and branches.

The major component of this essential oil is bornyl acetate (ester).


Suggested Use

Application to the forehead and neck in case of allergy and sinus congestion. Good tonic for the adrenal glands for fatigue shots when applied to the lower back. In a diffuser, it is useful for its purifying and toning properties.
