Product Details

Balsam fir is a characteristic tree of boreal forests. It is the most widely used medicinal plant by First Nations in eastern Canada. Its resin was consumed as a tea in the treatment of many conditions such as colds, asthma, kidney problems or even to boost energy. The same resin could be applied topically to aid in healing.

Balsam fir essential oil comes from steam distillation of its needles. The resulting oil is mainly composed of monoterpenes and esters.

The majority compound of this essential oil is β-pinene (monoterpene).

Suggested Use

External, diluted at 20% in a good vegetable oil to help relieve pain and localized neuralgia. It can also be used pure in a diffuser to purify the surrounding air.
