The kidneys are powerful organs that play a vital role in keeping the human body healthy. What is more, they perform not one or two, but three essential functions of our organism.

First, they regulate the amount of water in our body systems. To work well, our bodies need a specific amount of water; the role of the kidneys is to maintain the quantity of water necessary for its proper functioning and to eliminate the surplus.

The kidneys also eliminate waste and toxins. For the body to function properly, it needs to keep minerals and other substances in the blood and body fluids at an adequate level. The kidneys help remove excess minerals like sodium, potassium and phosphorus, and wastes like urea (the result of protein breakdown) and acids.
