PARAAndropause
Andropause corresponds to all the physiological symptoms linked to the drop in the secretion of testosterone as well as other sex hormones in men, from the age of 45. This deficit is linked to age. Andropause is defined apart from all other diseases.
First and foremost, andropause is caused by too much drop in testosterone levels in the blood. This hormone which is at the origin of all masculine characteristics (deep voice, beard and hair, muscle mass, etc.)
Despite this drop in testosterone which causes specific symptoms, the reproductive system is not affected and sperm production is still possible.
Other secondary causes (but related to the previous one) are also possible: • Decrease in certain cells that are in the testes (Leydig cells), • Decrease in luteinizing hormone (LH), • Decrease in the number of testosterone “receptors”.
The main symptoms of andropause are: • Decreased libido. • Less rigid and less frequent erections. • Episodes of sweating independent of physical exertion. • More frequent fatigability, more laborious physical recovery after efforts. • Sleep disturbances. • Increased nervousness, more frequent irritability. • A depressive tendency. • A decrease in muscle mass. • An increase in the abdominal perimeter. • Bone fragility. • More frequent muscle and joint pain. • A regression of hairiness. • • Only 2% of testosterone circulates freely in the blood. Indeed, it is mainly linked to two plasma proteins: albumin (weakly bound) and SHBG (strongly bound). The decrease in testosterone secretion is caused by aging on the one hand, and the increase in the level of SHBG or "globulin linked to sex hormones" on the other. This increase has the effect of removing usable testosterone from the bloodstream: it thus promotes andropause and its physiological manifestations. •
• • Fortunately, nature has been able to compensate for the lack of energy and offer us a wide range of products dedicated to the recovery of the functions necessary for a good quality of life.
